Healing Pain and Injury

Healing Pain and Injury Celina TrevinoIt seems fitting that my first blog is about the timely release of the book, Healing Pain and Injury by Maud Nerman, D.O. Maud is a Doctor of Osteopathy who does OMM: Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. This means she uses her hands to manipulate the body as a form of medicine. This is a book mostly about Osteopathy, and how it can be used to bring you back to health. She is also a homeopath and details how Homeopathy is an excellent tool to aid in restoring health. My hope is that this information can provide the missing link to your health ills and empower you to take charge of your health.

Structure and function are reciprocally interrelated at all levels, down to the cellular. This is one of the four osteopathic principles. This concept is understood and accepted when it comes to engineering and design of…everything. It also applies to what I think is the most magnificent design: the human animal. The structure of your body has everything to do with how it functions. Most people understand that when an organ is depleted of blood supply, gangrene can set in and the organ can die, causing death. It’s hard for most people to think about what would happen when blood supply or venous drainage of an organ is compromised. Think of a kink in a hose that limits the amount of water coming through but not cutting it off completely. When the same happens to blood and lymphatic vessels or nerves, this limits the nutrition and detoxification of an organ, which would result in decreased or suboptimal function. Why would that happen? Injury and trauma, surgeries, malnutrition and suboptimal postures are a few. What is the solution, then?

Perhaps you or your loved ones had an accident and symptoms pop up, only to be told, “We can’t find anything wrong with you.” Even though it may be clear to you that problems started after your accident, have you then been given a prescription for drugs as if that is the only solution?

Dr. Nerman details in her book how she treats a person and why. She covers injury shock, which happens after all types of trauma, taming inflammation in the body and restoring motion to different key areas of the body. Also detailed is a chapter on brain injury and how Osteopathy can be used to fill the gap needed for treatment. Other gems of the book are the self-help exercises for breathing and restoring motion to the body. My wish is that this book will help connect dots for you and supply answers about your amazing body, mind and spirit. My guess is this kind of information about how your body works makes sense to you, intuitively. Wherever you are on your health journey, this book has much to teach. Your body is (to say the least) a magnificent machine, that when given the right conditions, can and does heal.
